Assets for Artists - THE STUDIOS AT MASS MoCA RESIDENCY PROGRAM. U.S. 2022
“We conceive of performance art from our situated thinking, declaring our interest in mutilated heritage and in the re-composition of the social network pierced by the logic of capitalist competition. We understand communities from their trans-species evolution, considering their histories, their legacies, and their power relations. We manifest being in a permanent relationship with the living and non-living beings that surround us. We are ritual, we are cyborgs who recognize their ancestry in technique. We follow in the footsteps of technology to rediscover our starting point.”
In this residence, Oscar Explores and experiments with some records of the community memory of North Adams, Ma. linked to textile production of the 19th/20th centuries.
From the articulation of these, Oscar proposes via corporeal key (Performance art), methodological possibilities to recompose the missing stories of the relationship between human production and the living, non-living species that cohabit in this territory.
